Matt, i've learned that sometimes the original folks around the homested either watched every large cent, buried the good stuff, took it with them and in many cases here on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, many people way back when traded and bartered and grew & raised thier own and silver pieces were few and far between....but sites are never hunted out- return in moderation and the silver will pop-out..
