My first Barber!!

May 07, 1998 at 14:07:35

I almost didn`t go detecting this morning, now I`m glad I did. I went to an old park that has some old Oak trees (200 + Years) and some long forgotten & overgrown baseball diamonds.I had found a bunch of wheats, all at around 2 inches and was about to call it a day when I got a solid coin signal at 4 inches. I dug a plug & in the bottom of the hole I found a coin sized chunk of something that looked like metal. I checked the hole with my detector and got no responce, so I put the plug back in and started to sweep again. I just happend to pass over the plug and I got a coin signal,so I yanked out the plug and checked it.Out poped a 1914 Barber dime. It`s not in the best shape, but I`m not complaining!!! By the way, the thing I thought was a chunk of metal, turned out to be a rock......HH :) Clay
