My Garrett gives false signals - rather than dig down, try shaving the sides of the hole. Sometimes it says it's way down there, but in reality it's sideways! Also, something weird, the factory settings on my GTAx1000 for coins reads (get this) maple tree roots as quarters, I can't puzzle that one out. Signed, a fellow Garrett person!
