two cent piece

July 12, 1998 at 20:40:38

This afternoon I hunted a house which dates back to 1833. I started on the side yard where i quickly found a good luck token dated 1910. I had a very good feeling about this yard. It was heavily laden with trash, but most targets were shallow. The first coin I found was a 1917 wheaty. Two inches over was a 1904 Barber Qtr in VG condition. It was only 2.5 inches deep! By far the best find of the day was an 1864 two cent piece in EF cond. I didn't know what it was at first, until i rubbed off some dirt. What a rush! The 2 cent piece is still covered with hard dirt. Anyone have any suggestions on cleaning it without damaging it? Good Hunting, Jamie U.
