Congratulations on your great find. Is it a small or large motto variety 2cent piece. Is the coin encrusted with dirt or is it a green coating of corrosion? When copper coins have been in the ground they can and do corrode. They sometimes develop a crust which if removed can actually ruin a good find and make the coin unrecognizable. I would take a cautious approach. My suggestion would be to soak it in Olive oil for a couple of days, see if the dirt loosens. Best regards John.
