A Dashing Find --Please help I.D.

January 30, 1999 at 17:27:30

Okay people the great NorthEast has given me some incredible finds and I hope that this one is no different. The object that I am describing is the bigger than a quarter and smaller than a half-dollar. On the front of this ( what I assume is a medal) a runner in ready position, a red triangle with a crescent moon going through the middle of the triangle and the year 1909. On the back the words 220 yds. Dash are inscribed as well as sterling and Nevaco-N.Y. Fulton Street. I know that this must be an award, what I don't know is what does the triangle and crescent symbol represent? The medal is in Near mint condition. Please help. Thanks to all who do. shookie
