ID brass button

September 17, 1998 at 17:18:19

On Labor Day I found the below described flat brass button. Can anyone give me an idea of it's age and use?

5/8" in diameter, thin. Appears to be made of a flat brass disk that has been punched in the center to make it concave. In the concave are two holes. Around the outer rim are the words MILITAIRES AND EQUIPMENTS the words are separated by a five pointed star.

Button was found in a church yard (124 yrs old). I was using a Whites Eagle II SL and the depth was about 6".
