I think what you have is a military underwear button made by a company with a french connection.Years ago soldiers wore thick almost canvas like underwear and these brass buttons were on the fly.There are many different types and makers.The oldest ones are pewter.The spanish amer. war through ww2 had us army on them.The civil war type are usually 4 hole brass with a northern manufacturer's name on them.Hope this helps, Peter
