First large cent & cleaning suggestions?

Found an 1833 large "one cent" piece. Really felt neat after reading of all you guys finding these things. It is in excellant shape. How is the best way to clean these. I notice they chip easy. Is there a way to stop the chipping from happening. Thanks for your help everyone. HH. Bill
