Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the very slight chipping toward the edge first. Most of the dirt came off of it by itself. The copper color is mostly all there. I am color blind so I think it is copper color. I put a tiny amount of spit on the date area while at the site so I could see the date. Turns out that is not the thing to do. Even the little I did put on it removed the 'copper?' color at the highest part of each number. Now you have to tilt the coin, or look at it with just the right shadowing, and you can clearly see the date. Looking at it directly, makes it hard to see the date. Have I ruined it? What can these coins be worth? (Someone punched a small hole in the middle of the coin, but not all the way through it). Thanks again for your help guys. Thanks Stone Arabian for the advice.
