first 1800's coin
March 28, 2000 at 17:25:06

Hello all, I just bought my first detector a few months ago, it's a tesoro silver sabre umax. During the winter I did some research on places to hunt when spring got here. And it sure paid off. I was researching a site near an old company town and when I finally got a chance to check it I found a 1896 Indian Head Penny in good condition. I plan on going back this weekend to do a more thorough search and will let you all know what turns up. For all you other newbee's out there, finding modern clad is fine if thats your thing, but finding an old coin from a site that you have researched, thats the kind of thing that will keep you coming back for more and will make all the time you spent in researching worth while. Good luck to everyone and God bless. Chris D.
