A day of many firsts !!!
April 11, 2000 at 19:45:32

I took off for what was going to be "just a little while" with my detector to search the house across the field from me. I had recently found out it was built in 1802, and was the third house built on the property. The first two had burnt down prior to the third one being built. With recent feedback from Rick in ND and Cliff in MI, I tried using headphones for the first time. They sure let me hear the signals better. Well after digging a dozen or two aluminum clippings from the siding on the house, I had a very strong signal. Six inches down lay my first King George copper (1797). At the time I didn't know what it was, but seeing the date 1797 I had a feeling it was going to be good. I didn't hesitate to continue my search of the grounds. After a while out popped a 1944 Mercury dime. Yep, you guessed it, my first one. To finish off what turned out to be a very exciting day, I uncovered an 1899 Indian head penny also my first. Looking forward to the next time. HH Chris
