This being the case, I'd say you might want to see how the machine handles salt water, clay (on some Pacific Northwest beaches it's thick as cement, hot rocks, and the imfamous black sand. If the site you plan to work has the above, or any combination thereof, you might check to see how this detector handles it. I have machines that are hot on sand, but, they fail miserably in black sand and hot rocks. Bounty Hunter ground tracking handles black sand and hot rocks very well. My Tesoro does not.
