SPANISH CROSSES
August 16, 1999 at 11:44:36

Can someone with an in-depth-knowledgable background on the Spanish, elaborate for me as to why and when the Spanish would carry out the laborious task of chiseling crosses upon rocks and boulders? I have heard it was to state that they "passed by this way" or that "water or springs are nearby" and was a marker for that. Anyone have any better info?
