Hi Steve : The first thought that comes to mind is that the sentinals do not know the exact location either. They know that the treasure is there, and think gold, not weapons and supplies. Although the gold will also exist in the caches as well. The money would have been added for military reasons, buying food, bribes, ect. The historians would go bannanas over the rest of the cache for the historical value of the items. You have to remember that it was not just to hide gold for save keeping, but to be able to break free from the yoke of the North once and for all. This is still almost a religion in the hills of Virginia. I an living there at present. They did not want The South Shall Rise Again, but for the Nation, which it was, to be alive and well.
