Hi Steve,
I go by the letter that La Rue sent to Spain in 1703 I think it was and the map he had drawn and sent with it. I don't have my books with me tonight, but his estimates on the location are about as confusing as El Chato's to his. But I am sure you know that the measurement for distances back then was often off 75-100 miles on their mapping. The way La Rue described the mountain with the gold in it as being surrounded by other taller peaks and being in a bowl shaped area, plus there was a spring nearby that runs all year round. That is the exact place Victorio is located. I'm not saying I am right, but from all the research I did several years ago led me to this conclusion. Victorio and La Rue was my first treasure I was obssesed with, but of coarse unobtainable due to it's location(WSMR). Doc Noss said he saw the stacks of gold ingots, a smelter set up inside the mountain just like La Rue described, and several skeletons bound and in what was left of priests garments, plus the religeous artifacts which were probably Alcomon. I am not exactly sure what you wanted to know Steve, but if you have some specific questions I will try to answer them for you. As far as resources I prefer to keep my Victorio project friend confidential because currently he and I are working on El Chato's stashes which we believe to be in the Organ's due to clues he and I have located. But tomorrow night I will post here the books where I found printings of the map and letter from La Rue to spain which are archived. Have a good night!
