Thanks, Dave. I was curious about LaRue's original origins and which religious order he was a member of.
I don't know much about El Chato per se, but I do know that the Organ Mountains would be a good place to hide something permanently. So would the nearby Franklins and Caballos for that matter - many legends persist in all three Rio Grande ranges.
