"Knights Of The Golden Circle",Caches In Some States.?

An old man that I know was telling me one day about this organization.This man is in his 90s and I just happened to strike up a conversation with him after I visited my grandmother at the retirement home where she lives.During my talk with him,I happened to tell him of my hobby of metal detecting and he told me this interesting story.He said that his grandfather had been a member of this organization after the Civil War and that there main purpose then was to gather funds for a second one.His grandfather also told him stories that there were large caches in some states and some were rigged with deadly traps.Others,he said were even guarded by members of this Knights of the Golden Circleorganization,and they would kill anyone who tried to steal them.Is any of this story true at all, about the roganization or the loot?
