I researched and found a story here locally. I heard a rumor that during the civil war the local bank took all there money ($50,000) and dropped it in a well. There it sat for four years. I talked to the Family owned bank's oldest surviving member and he said they recovered all but 1 coin. Does anyone believe that they could have been able to salvage $50,000 in gold coins in cloth bags under water in a well for 4 years. Wouldn't the bags have fallen apart?|
The funny part is the land owner didn't even know this was in his well. The gentleman even gave me the location of the well.
after doing a little research how about a conspiracy......At the time of this deposit the president of the bank was a prominent local figure who they promote as having Jefferson Davis stay at his house. Was Jefferson Davis a KGC member? I wonder if they really salvaged all the money? The local guys house is one of the biggest around? Ha...ha...ha.
