Do you mean Tomy Veal's books? A good book on western frontier mining techniques is "Western Mining" by Otis Young, Jr. He goes into spanish mining methods pretty well, but I don't remember him mentioning the Native American mines. Probably not a lot of info out there. The Spanish basically followed the veins in North America, since most of it was illegal mining. Their legal mines would be the ones they timbered up.
