rock carved sign
October 27, 2002 at 20:17:21

I have a friend in Alabama who i visit from time to time and we have been loooking for a supposed civil war treasure that was located near a rock formation with the shape of a turtle. We found what we believe might be it, but have had no success pin pointing anything, yet in later times we had hooked up with a guy who enjoyed hunting for arrowheads more than treasure ,and while out hunting for deer once, this man came up on this same rock my friend and i found with a "hand" mark carving on the east side of the rock turtle. His dad while alive had sought this same rock which is a local treasure legend ,so when it was discovered by him,the guy chisled off a large chuck of the hand so as to confuse anyone. My question, is do any of you have any idea what a civil war era "hand" might represent? Thanks
