Help finding GOLD!!
August 03, 2003 at 10:53:33

I recently bought a house that I am renovating from top to bottom. When I was removing the kitchen cabinets from the wall, I found a letter behind the cabinets in an envelope that was sealed and written on the front: Open in Privacy dated July 15,1931. It reads: To who ever finds this piece of information: If you care to take the effort you will be rewarded richly. There is exactly $18,660 dollars located approximately 17 ft. in depth at the southwest corner of the three stall garage. I will not explain the reason for this large sum of money to be buried there but for reasons I wish not to explain I'm not worthy of this money, and thus pass it on. At this location you will find in a tin lined box 800-20 dollar bills, 100-20 dollar gold pieces and 600 silver dollar and 120 half dollar pieces. How you use this money is no concern to me. God Bless. We have dug 17 feet down at the corner and used a metal detector to no avail. We even dug 17 feet from the corner in both directions with no success. My question is if this a hoax? Does any one know a way to scan down into the earth 17 feet without costing a fortune? Or do you know anyone who does this type of work or who I could contact for help? The property was built in 1937 and I have researched the Abstract Plat Plans and have found the previous owners who all stated that they did not write the letter. The grand daughter of the original homebuilder stated that there was never a well or cisterne on the property. Although, they did own the property to the immediate left and right of the home now. How could we check with the neighbors about looking on their property? Please Help!! Thank you, John C.
