Spanish treasure galleons sunk north of Dominican Republic
November 23, 2003 at 17:24:44

Hi there,
I live and work in Dominican Republic and as a professional diver I conduct often some diving in the area of Montecristi bay where is supposed to be more than 130 old shipwrecks, some of them documented as a "treasure shipwrecks" (Spanish galleons San Pedro, Santa Clara, i.e.) and also there are lot of pirate ships, for Tortuga is only 60 miles from here. Some of the wrecks has had no name so far but one can find lot of very interesting artefacts there. The whole area is declared as a National Park with strict diving restrictions. Anyway we have a small underwater archaeological diving company there and from time to time we can go with limited number of clients to dive on these mostly untouched old shipwrecks. If anybody from you has some confirmed information about some lost treasure ship around Montecristi, you are invited to come and dive this site with us under our permission of government of Dominican Republic.
Regards, Max
