For undug coins this is true. For dug coins this is untrue.
The value will increase with judicious cleaning."

Found a 1788 1/2 real earlier this year then beat it with a 1772 recently.I also found several large cents this summer 3 in one hole.oldest LC was 1797.But the year isent done yet !
I feel kinda silly for even posting this one as it's 'spanking new' compared to most of the others posted, but I am just getting started so for me, it IS the oldest find so far this year . It was a 1964 Nickel found in an old church yard yesterday. I am going to start getting pictures of my finds (that are worth sharing), I just have to find the cable to the camera so I can put them on the computer!

Re: what were your oldest finds of 2006?
1805 large Irish penny. Found at a Dublin Ireland park while on vacation in September. Found out today that it is
illegal to hunt most places in Ireland! Got away with it! ...Luck of the Irish!
