***MY 2007 HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2007***
Well all you TN Folks out there in Treasure Land. Here are the highlights of my year. I was hoping to find my first Barber coin before year end, but so such luck. No silver seated, standing, walking, or crawling yet either. I did find a few nice coins though, and a ton of other goodies. I can't post it all, but below are some of my nicer 2007 finds.
I have learned a lot about my machine this year, and love to get out to MD as much as possible.
The experiences have been wonderful, the wealth of knowledge here has been unbelievable, and the TN members are FANTASTIC. I just want to say "THANKS" to all of you for your support this year. When my Dad passed away in August, I truly think it was this hobby and you great folks that got me through that tough time. I hope everyone has a great holiday season, and an awesome 2008 MD season.
O.K., enough of that mushy stuff. Here we go:
COINS
Pictured are my IH pennies, Buff Nickels (1 war time nickel), silver quarters, and silver dimes (mostly Mercs).
My two best coins were:
*A late 1700's counterfeit Carolus Spanish silver piece of 8 reale. (Thanks Don for the ID)
*A key date 1868 IH penny.
BUTTONS
What I lacked in coin finds, I made up in old buttons.
I dug over 60+ old buttons ranging from the late 1700's to early 1900's. Most were 1800's.
One of my favorites was an 1812 era button with "Strong Forever" on the back mark. (Thanks PBK & Warren Tice for the ID)
CIVIL WAR
I did fairly well with the assortment of bullets, musket balls, relics, and buttons.
My favorite two CW pieces are:
*Eagle sword belt plate. (Thanks Josh for the ID)
*6 lb. Bormann cannon ball piece (Thanks Josh for the ID)
Tags / Tokens / Keys
RELICS
Some of the larger ones pictured, but too many to post.
TOYS and TOT LOT TRINKETS
My favorites were the cannon and the 1940's lead soldier (medic).
I'm still taking the training course from BDoo on playground MDing.
JEWELRY
I did pretty good on gold and diamond rings this year. I sold a couple to fund my MD hobby, but they are pictured here too.
My favorite two jewelry pieces were:
*A 1930's deco look 18k white gold and 6 diamond ring. Found on a farm.
*A large 10k gold nugget and 7 diamond ring. Found on a playground.
Thanks for looking everyone.
MM

Keep the passion high, my man!

Thanks Big Guy.
I've enjoyed both your finds AND humor equally as much. Hopefully there's at least one 1800's wilver out there for me in 08', and at least 100 old coppa for BDD.

Yo, Dougette Doug, I have watched you transform into one heck of a great detectorist as the year went on. KirkPA and I are always waiting for the next hilarious post by you. Keep up the great digging, and may 2008 be even better.

Great year Doug. You found some really awesome stuff. Your posts helped keep me motivated this year. Whenever I saw one of your posts I knew there would be some good stuff in there, and you didn't disappoint.
Keep up the good work and best of luck in the upcoming year. I have a feeling you'll be crossing several "firsts" off the list next year, including 1800's silver.

Thanks Rob.
I try to post up a variety, since I love to MD just about anywhere I can. There's an old 1800's farm down the road that I've been drooling over for years now. The granddaughter has graciously said "no" twice to me, but I'm hoping to sweeten the deal next time with a gift. Should I wear my dress?
Hopefully I hit on some 1800's silver in 08'.
Have a great season, and thanks for your nice comments,

There's one out there for me, I just know it.

Thanks Civil.
That 1830's CW property was a big help to me on finds towards the end of the year. I'm glad there was still stuff left after all these years of being detected. They must not of had a Tesoro? As far as the old farm, I'll be back there for sure. I'm waiting till deer season is over first (Jan. 1st) before I venture out into the woods further. After that, if they mistake me for a turkey or a rabbit, I'll beat them over the head with my detector. I know there's more out there. There's about 160 acres I haven't searched yet.
As far as the clock, I won't sell it to you, but I'll give it to you. You pay shipping and it's yours. PM me your address.
(My wife didn't like it anyways)
Just please, don't show up on Antiques Roadshow with it.
Good luck in 08' and happy holidays.
