CIVIL WAR FINDS OF 2008 PLATES, BUCKLES, COINS, AND TONS OF PICS
OK so i don't really get a chance to add many today's finds but i do metal detect quite frequently. I'm 18 and have only been digging on and off for two and half years but this year i really have gotten into it. I have met some new friends along the way also, Hutch911, tymcmurray, and civilman1 and it has been fun i look forward to digging with all of you in the new year. Now onto the good stuff the breastplate, hat pin,(which both have hooks on the back) and the bayonet, and ramrod all came out of the wilderness along with the majority of the bullets on only five acres of land , the us baby buckle which also has two of the arrow hooks the 12lb solid shot and the 69's came out of culpeper along with almost all the shell fragments note the one with the fuse still in it. the four Virginia staff buttons i bought at yard sale for a ridiculous small amount of money. And the eagle buttons came from various places. The homestaed items and coins came from different house sites. If you have any questions please feel free to ask i hope this goes to show you that there is still stuff in the ground sometimes closer than you think. Happy Hunting and Happy new year

The bottle is actually a perfume bottle that was dug out of a trashpit, and the points are actually fairly common for this area in virginia.

CANE FIELD BANDITS and IRON BRIGADE MEMBER
Re: CIVIL WAR FINDS OF 2008 PLATES, BUCKLES, COINS, AND TONS OF PICS
Heck, yeah!
There are finds there that any CW hunter would be thrilled to make. Pretty darned good work there. (Did you say this was your first year detecting?) Well...you're in a great location to find those Fine relics. It's not often that I say a buckle or plate has been "one-upped," but I think that Hardee hat pin does it! Keep up the hard work, and keep posting your excellent recoveries.
Best wishes,
Buckles
