72 total varieties for the year (living in the northeast sucks for variety)

I remember those days well, or not so well as the case may be. From 1976-85 I collected in RI and S-mints were the toughest to find. Completing a roll of 1970-S nickels was a major feat! Now it's the opposite, still no 2008-P penny yet...

I am in south carolina and I have only gotten 1 2008 P and no 2008 D.

Current production numbers show the D is going to be a lot more common than the P. Funny bc ebay has unc box of D's going for a lot more money than the P's.

May 2008 totals

342 wheat pennies (34 of which were pre-1941)

105,000 pennies searched in May.

Added 6 new varieties in May. Of the 142 possible standard wheat penny varieties (including large/small mintmarks), I am now up 101 different in 2008 through April. I also added two new varieties to my lifetime variety list (1931-D and 1910) which is now up to 117 different varieties.

Since Feb of this year I have been searching for wheats trying to get a bag of just commons(1940's and 50's). I have found 2317 commons and probably about 300 other wheat(teens,20's, 30,s mints and steels).

Haven't posted on this forum yet. I just started getting penny's by the bag full in the last month. Due to the silver shortage I'm experiencing here in Mi. Got to get my fix you know. LOL

I've gone through 4 $50 bags in the last week and 3 more 2 weeks ago. My avg. is about 15-20 wheat's per bag. Outside of getting bags in the last month I would always buy handrolls if I can't find Halves while cold calling and have accumulated some Wheaties.

I just finished the 4 bags I picked up last week. I don't really track very well, But I just counted up my take for the year and will put them up so I don't recount them again, for your tracking purposes.

So here are my totals for the year. 1/1/08 through 6/10/08 [size=11pt] [size=14pt]366[/size][/size]

June 2008 totals

849 wheat pennies (106 of which were pre-1941)

110,000 pennies searched in June.

Added 6 new varieties in June. Of the 142 possible standard wheat penny varieties (including large/small mintmarks), I am now up 106 different in 2008 through June 30. I also added one new variety to my lifetime variety list (1913-S) which is now up to 118 different varieties.

It was a slow penny month for me as I decided to spend some time dumping.  I still found one new one for my album, the last P mint penny I needed, so I was happy!  HH
