My 1st 1/2 Year detecting new to the hobby gonna be tough to beat. Pics

My buddy (bartman) got me into this fun hobby back in May even loaned me his spare detector (Ace 250) which I still use and all I can say is wow. I had a terrific 1st year

    Totals
    66 Silver Coins
    1 Seated Quarter 1856
2 Standing Liberty Quarters (oldest 1925)
    2 Barber Quarters (oldest 1898)
    17 Washington Quarters (oldest 1935)
    1 Half Dime
    9 Barber Dimes (oldest 1902)
    17 Mercury Dimes (oldest 1919S)
    9 Rosevelts
    79 IHP (oldest 1865, Best was a 1877 )
    8 War Nickels
    8 V Nickels
Over 500 wheat pennies best one was a 1909 VDB
    Numerous Buffalo Nickels
Numerous Foreign Coins (Oldest was a 1875 Chinese cash coin)
    King George II Copper
    1817 Matron Head Large Cent
    Few unidentifiable coppers
Numerous trade Tokens & Picker Tokens
    17 pieces of silver jewlery
3 pieces of gold jewlery best being a 14k Tennis bracelet
    Numerous buttons and dog tags
    $413.76 in clad
lots of misc items buckles, swordfish harpoon head and such and even a modern nickel cache in a medicine bottle.

To say I had a great year would be a understatement and believe it or not most of these finds came out of a park. Joined a club and made a few new friends. I love the hobby and hope I can beat this years finds.

My best find was this 1877 IHP which graded VF20 heavily corroded by Anacs

Some important things I learned my 1st year

Pinpointers allow you to dig more targets
    Public spots produce big time
    If in doubt dig it
Slow and steady wins the race
clad can be deeper then old silver dug numerous old coins shallower with clad underneath them.
    Love the Ace 250
Good hunting to all in 2010

Pretty darn impressive first year. What's more impressive is you know where to go to find the seated coins & all those IHP! Congratulations..

Yeah might take a while before you knock off that 77 indian as your best. But it will be fun trying.

Here's one to add to your list.... Good research, and private property often means untouched site.
