2010 was my third year metaldetecting . This is my first year end post. I did not hunt nearly as much this year as I did in 2009 mainly due to a big move from Bangor Me. to Portland Me. which my wife and I made at the end of June. Getting the house ready for sale in Bangor. Buying a new house in Portland. Starting a new job in Portland. Which turned out to be a 6 day a week gig really cut into my hunting time. I did not even put a coil over dirt for almost 3 months. My last hunt in Bangor was on June 6th and my first hunt in Portland was on Sept. 4th . This all said. I still made some nice finds in 2010 and I feel my detecting skills are much improved over the last two years . I am just going to give a top 12 from each city in two posts . The main difference you will notice in the finds from Portland vs Bangor is age of the coins. Although I was finding a few 18th century relics in Bangor I had yet to find a coin from that century The coin finds in Portland are noticeably older than the finds from Bangor . In my first two and a half years detecting in Bangor my oldest coin was an 1803 draped bust large cent . In the last half of my season in Portland I managed 3 coins from the 1700's. I cannot wait to start my 2011 season . Bangors top 12 finds of 2011 first in no particular order.
