Well this is the last of my 2012 finds, saved my indians for last!.....This year was just awesome for finding indian pennies, we got basically no winter so I was able to start field hunting in January and hunt all the way thru December. That gave me a couple extra bonus months in the fields. Field sites where old farm houses used to stand are always good for indian pennies. And during the rest of the year I knock doors at old houses, mostly old farms, those are my favorite places to hunt.

Last year I dug 146 indians, so I smashed that record with 174!!!! Also was a real treat to get 2 flying eagles this year, both from field sites, got a 1857 and a 1858. I took a pic of all the fatty indians, a pic of the 1860's indians, and then just piled them all together. A few of my 174 are not in the pic, they were already in coin flips and I did not want to tear them out.

As for my dug indian set, I only need 7 more to have a complete dug set. I was able to knock a couple off my need list this yr, getting down to the real tough ones now. But I feel what I have now is pretty good considering I have almost a complete set in 5 yrs of detecting.

I included a graph to show the years I dug, I got a few "no daters" that I was not able to include on this chart...Hope you enjoy the photos, I sure enjoyed digging all those indians!!!!

Awesome finds!! Ohio seems to have a lot of good finds. Do you clean your Indians ? Some of mine have so much sand "glued" to it that I can't seem to get off. Any suggestions?

most I just clean with soap and water, now field indians I normally just use a toothpick to pick away the dirt, seems like water kills em
