Well this season hunts are officially over as the ground is frozen locking it's treasures within.

Just wanted to share with you my best silver finds (wast majority are from the last 2 months). I believe I was blessed with some great finds this season, with a great diversity of coins and relics. I'll just post my early French, Spanish and British ones (with a bonus of two Americans). The earliest of the group dates to around 1450 the latest to 1855 All were found in Canada during this hunting season.

Again, thank You all for a warm welcome! And have a great 2017 hunting season!

Anton.

Congrats :occasion14: on a very productive and impressive 2016. I'd have been stoked seeing anyone of them in the hole.

How did all that Spanish coinage end up in Canada? Just wondering.

They were a common currency in many colonies. Mainly due to the shortage of French or British silver. In Quebec, even today, the common word for a dollar is ''piastre'' from Spanish ''pistareen''.

We did a multi family vacation in Montreal last weekend and once again had such a great time that we started considering a move there at some point to take advantage of my dual citizenship. I was like, "Well, we better get there soon if I want to be able to detect there, 'cause there's a guy on tnet who's going to remove every last bit of history from the ground by 2020 at the rate he's going!"

Congrats on a superb year and glad you joined this community.

Ps: have mercy and don't post a 2016 rev button retrospective. Just. Not. Fair. :laughing7:

I can't get enough of those hammered coins. They're certainly atop my list but seldom found in the new world.

Great Spanish collection this year, and that seated half dime is my favorite design of all seated coins. It's not only a first year for the rising but the simplest.

Great year and congrats! We're quickly dropping here in North NJ so my year is wrapping up as well.

Stay warm!
