Hi folks,

Thanks for supporting my addiction last year. It was good to get back in the swing of things after 6 years away.

I employed a new strategy this year: almost exclusively hunting private property. Because I live in Seattle proper that generally ends up being smaller city lots and sidewalk strips. By the looks of it, it's hard to find big silver hunting city lots, but they are full of wheats and silver dimes. I feel like I got my bang for my buck this year, not hunting as much as I would like but still pulling in some good stuff. These totals are between my brother (washingtonian jr) and I. We hunted together growing up and it only feels right to still count our totals together.

First up, 27 silver coins.

6 War Nickels (43, 43-S x 2, 45-D, 45-S x2)

Congrats to you and your brother on a really good year.

I found 5 silver half dollars in the last 4 months of this year. They ALL came from yards, or former yards. I have 15 silver halves in 4 years. Almost all came from schools or yards. keep after the permissions at older (pre-1960) houses, and one will turn up for you before too much longer.

Wishing you both a prosperous 2018!

Thanks CT, I certainly hope so! Seems like we're due for some big silver after finding all these dimes in 2017. Best of luck in the new year!

You & the brother done quite well mate. I spied one item I believe is a pair of Sterling "Captains Bars". It's that silver pin next to the ear ring. I found a set of them that is from WWI and a bit different from yours but they look like the real deal. I'll include a picture of mine to give you an idea what I think you have there. Very cool find! I like the old Asian coins too. I have a real nice pair of Chinese cash coins. Probably two of my oldest coin recoveries. Great job to you two. Even better in 2018.:icon_thumright:

Very nice totals indeed for the season. Best of luck for the 2018 season and I hope you get the George V silver. Very possible even to get an Edward or Vickie as your close to the 49th.

Thank you bman! It's been fun following all your finds. Excited for the W&E article. Hope you get another silver half spill this year, or even better, a gold coin spill!

Thanks for the ID K1! I figured they were military-related but that helps identify even further. They are also marked sterling and were found in the yard of a 1950s-era house. I would bet they are from WWII.

Man that'd be sweet, I haven't even gotten my hopes up for an Eddie or Vickie. Would love to find those too!

Great group of finds! I love the silvers! That is a heck of of a lot of wheats! I dug 160+, so not at your level. What do you do with them? I just have them in a baggy, considering tumbling.

Thank you! Good question, just sitting in a ziplock with others from previous years. Probably have 300+. Maybe I'll try and fill out a wheat penny book with them someday?
