I haven't been posting on Tnet for a while but I am still detecting Tennessee at age 69. Buckleboy keeps me informed regarding what he, Molly, & Shane dig and they have enjoyed a good year as well. Thanks DL. A friend told me it was the action from a late 1800s Remington derringer. He collects them.

Thanks. They are brass tent rope adjusters so the tent ropes could be loosened or tightened given the weather conditions. At one time, they were thought to be CW but they used wooden adjusters then.

Great to hear from you Steve. The thinking is that this was a site where CW ordnance was discarded. The grapeshot balls have some flat sides indicating they were compressed in a stand. The big balls are mixed in the canister shot. I had to use the small F75 coil to pick out the big balls. No grape plates , rings, or bolts there or canister parts. MC my friend & good luck in 2019 at cellar holes.

Very cool to get an ID on the Derringer, something like that would be off the wall for me to find. The closest I have come to a gun find was the hammer to a muzzle loader. you need another building to display your finds, like a museum. we have so many super cool historical things that we can dig up and that is the magic of what we do. Don't slow down, can't wait to see next years finds
