I was just reading a history book that was written in 1882 about some of the early settlers in AL. According to this book there was a Scottish man named Lachlan McGillivray who married a Creek girl and set up a trading post in 1745 on the Coosa River "four miles north of what is now Wetumpka" I'm not sure exactly where Wetumpka was in 1882 but it shows there is some history in that area.
I'm just a couple of miles from Millbrook. If you are still checking the forum for replies, e-mail me. Would like to hear from anyone else in to metal detecting near Millbrook.
Also, need to find someone who knows of anyone who repairs White's detectors, more specifically, an old 5000 geb.
From Wetumpka and would really like to get back into the hunt. Just now getting the rest of my gear together, but would like to hook up and see what we can find.
