    Detecting along Alabama Gulf Coast??

We're thinking that we'd like to get down to the Gulf Coast to do some detecting during the July 4th weekend. Does anybody have any suggestions on beaches that allow detecting and aren't too crowded? You know, a beach that doesn't have a lot of amenities, but that might have had some shipwrecks nearby. Does anybody know if Dauphin island has recovered from Katrina?

I spend some time at Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. As for Dauphin Island I am not sure. I do know that the beach is growing by the fishing pier. And it appears to back after KATRINA.
