The lost site of Fort Louis de la Mobile

The lost site of Fort Louis de la Mobile was located about 39 miles up river
from present Mobile about three miles east of Calvert on U.S. 43 Washington Co.
This community was settled about 1704 by the French, abandoned in 1760.

Re: The lost site of Fort Louis de la Mobile

The detailed analysis done by Jay Higginbotham narrowed it down some:

Using engineering landmarks the site of Old Fort Louis was at Courtaulds dock 15.7 miles from the Bankhead Tunnel rather than 27 mile bluff which presently refers to a bluff a mile farther up stream. If you google the dock you can see what looks like possible remins northwest of the dock.

Thanks MichaelB...I always welcome anyone to add to, or correct any
    information I put out there.
I just try to put a lead out there, for someone that may be interested.
