Ok, I have struck out on some of my other sites I have tried to find so I will try a new one. Has anyone heard of or know where I might find Alverez ferry in Mobile. I can't seem to find any info. on the old ferry. Thanks for any help.

It's on North Shelton Beach Road(213) where it crosses Chickasaw Bayou(Chickasaw Creek now). Some spelled it Alvarez while other spelled it differently. Try Alvare's, Alvares, Alverez, etc. There are a few accounts of it here and there in some CW diaries as well as other accounts. The OR's of the CW has an account of it as well.

There was another ferry crossing on Chickasaw Bayou north of Mobile during the CW. It was Cleveland's. It was located where Ernest Dr. crosses Chickasaw Bayou. In the vacinity of North Craft Highway(Hwy 43). There was another name for this ferry as well, but right off hand I can't recall what it was.
