Maybe airplane dope?? We used to use airplane dope to paint the paper or cloth on the balsa framed gliders we used to build. I never understood why they called it dope but you sure got dopey if you breathed too much of it.

The National Dope company was formed in 1909, and changed its name in 1911. It was part of the Kola Wars, because they copied Coca Cola's recipe closely. The term "Dope" was a slight against Coca Cola for the Cocaine in the drink, pre 1906. However, Dope became a popular slang word for soda in the South all the way into the 60's. Some still refer to it as dope today. I will sell it for about $175. It's actually a bargain, because Kovels 12th edition of bottle prices lists it as worth $225.

This has many more markets than just us treasure hunters.

I’m thinking people with the gangster mindvirus would want this for their stash.

What I do is this: If I really like it, I keep it. If I bought it for a good price, and I think I can make a few bucks off of it, I sell it. I collect straight sided Coca Cola bottles, and town name bottles I am connected to. I have no connection with this bottle, I got it for a good price, so time to sell it to somebody who will give it a better home than me.

Ebay is funny. I am an antique knife collector/trader/dealer and I sell at tables at knife shows. I have a good friend who is also an antique knife collector/trader/seller who mostly sells on ebay. I sometimes buy a knife on ebay and make good money selling it at a show. My buddy does the opposite, he buys at shows and makes money selling them on ebay. Collectibles markets, trends, values are always changing and sometimes really good deals show up on ebay and sometimes things sell for ridiculous money there. Last year I bought an antique pocket knife on ebay that I thought was way undervalued at $50. I traded it to my friend for a knife he wanted a hundred for and a couple weeks later he put the one I had paid 50 for on ebay back on ebay with better advertising and got $110 for it.

See I am a teen, who doesn't have a drivers license yet, and a job that pays money. I like buying things, so what I'll do is, buy things I like, but don't love, sell them to get things I love (bottles, relics, equipment for detecting etc.), and make a small profit. Sometimes I help people with lawn care, house repair, etc. and I make money that way. It's good ol' American capitalism that's helping me make money, and have fun in the process.

It's "buy low and sell high". It doesn't matter where you buy or sell as long as you get it done.

Cool old bottle.

Well sell high enough to get money, and low enough not to be a rip off. I hate rip offs.

Bought a collection of porcelain Colorado bottle stoppers on eBay for $90 , sold all of them back on eBay for $246
