I was out clearing some trees along the edge of a field earlier. I fumbled a nut off the chain saw and had to dig through the snow and leaves to find it. Well I found more than just the nut. This is my first arrowhead and I am stoked!

I think that's actually illegal in a few states. I think it's refered to as snow "balling".

Thanks everyone. The last thing on my mind was finding anything like that. I knew the likelihood for finds was high as this location is near a river and has a rich Indian history before being bought by settlers around 1670. I own the property so I'll have ample time to scour it looking for artifacts but I won't mind waiting for better weather. A lot of soil was turned up in the fall and I actually did keep my eyes open but nothing turned up until this arrowhead.

But never Chainsaw snow hunting! :P
The first one is always the hardest. Now that you've got that out of the way they should come flying in.

I can't believe you found it in the snow. Congrats, now you know where to start in the spring. If you're clearing trees it'll grow up fast so don't wait to long.

Thanks everyone. I do believe that I have been bitten by arrowhead bug. As soon as the snow clears I'll be out there searching for more.
