A few teeny tiny Tennessee arrowheads..

Hey T-Net artifact collectors. We have been covered up with rain here in Tennessee and today was no diffrent. I always enjoy cruising this forum and seeing all the diffrent types of arrowheads posted and all the experts advice. So here I am .I thought I might post just a few of the little ones that are common to this area. When hunting you have to flip everything as sometimes what looks like a flake will end up being a point. I hope to learn to take pics in the field this summer. These are just a few I have found they are mostly guntersville and hamiltons. I tried to take a picture of the sides to show how paper thin they can be. I do not consider value that much but do admire the craftsmanship of the smaller arrowheads. Theory has it many of these small points were true arrow heads and used when in battle? I have been wrong before so appreciate any advice. Thanks for a fun forum.

Thanks John,Sandcreek4 and everyone else. I appreciate your comments. Most of the sites for many of the Hamiltons have been destroyed so they are a treasure now days .I think they are quite the feat to knapp. It always amazes me. This was just a sample of some smaller points we find.

Very nice Madison, Hamilton, and Guntersvilles. We find a lot of very tiny Madison's on our Ft Ancient sites.

I don't want to steal your post, so I'll just put on one picture of a tray of Madison's from the Hardin Village Site. The ones around the center are 1/4 and 1/2 inch long and very thin. I don't know how they made anything that small. The biggest points in this tray, the ones around the corners, are all under an inch and a half long.

Re: A few teeny tiny Tennessee arrowheads..

No DorKfish I/we want to see your points. We seem to have similiar types after you I.D the fort ancient for me. I am sure some of these came off near the Dallas Island where the Dallas period was named for in Hamilton county. Thanks robkruzan enjoyed seeing your post yesterday.Thirty7 you seem to be making some good finds as well. Chong2 I think it is close on the nolichucky because of the sides.I just picked out some of the smallest ones I had. We have many more types as Tennessee was occupied for a long long time. I guess the biggest I ever find are Copena and I find a lot of Paleo Lancets knifes. The last known fighting Indians were the chickamauguans(sp) off Chickamauga creek. The trail of tears starts here also. Used to be you could sift out 30 small points a day now days its all going under asphalt. As soon as they hit bone or pottery on a construction site they push to get it covered back up or it will shut down their project. There are also mant accounts of Civil war soldiers digging mounds while they camped around here.
So is life guys. Thanks for sharing your comments and veiws.
