    My Latest Finds

I went up to the Goldcamp Site, which is a Ft Ancient village site, on Monday of this week and hunted with a buddy of mine. I found a few Triangle Points, but unfortunately every one of them had the tip broken off. A couple of them would have been really nice serrated points. I also found a nice Bone Bead. My buddy found 4 Bone Beads, 1 really nice Shell Disc Bead and a couple of Serrated Triangles. He had found 5 other Beads, a Cannel Coal Pendant, and a nice Drill that morning before I got there. I had my camera with me, but I had forgotten to put the memory card back in it so I didn't get any pictures of his finds or any in situs and there would have been some nice ones. It looks like we are going to get some hard rain tonight and tomorrow so I should be finding some more real soon.

    Here are my finds.

Very nice finds. I've found a lot of triangles but never a serrated one.

Thanks Molly, unitas, and TnMountains. This site has been one of my favorite sites to hunt for a long time. It has a huge Ft Ancient village on the first ridge right next to the river and the ridges up farther away from the river are loaded with Archaic and Woodland artifacts. There is also a Woodland/Hopewell village site just about a half mile down river from this site that has produced some really nice pieces.

Here's some trays from this same site. The first 6 pictures are from the Ft Ancient village. The 7th picture is from the Woodland village and the last picture is a Lost Lake from the Archaic ridges.

All of your stuff is just "EYE CANDY"!!!! I love all the bone beads! Did you say you find most of the bone stuff in clay? Is that why they are so well preserved?
Isn't is amazing how the indians could make those points with so many serrations? Just think of how hard that would be!!
    GOOD finds, DorkFish!

Thanks sandcreek. Actually most of the Ft Ancient sites we hunt are very sandy soil. The one village site where the excavation is going on has very sandy soil and a clay base about 2 feet or more deep.
