Actually, no points found, just scrappers, chipping tools, cobble hammers, blades, and plenty of flint. A lot of the flint chips were used as crude blades... There was chipping along the cutting edges, some were extremely sharp. I am almost sure these are paleo artifacts. Oh, and i found some crude looking drills or pecking tools...

You think they were gathering and knapping down for transport to another site nearby? Lots of times the big flakes are the start of a journey to another site. The would work it down and see how it flaked or was worth working before hauling it all back to camp. I imagine the women got pretty upset with the mess of all the knapping in camp. Sharp stuff with out vibram soles. I bet the women gave them a shopping list. Like i need some big scrappers some decent knifes etc..lol. Poor guys would wander to their spots and start checking out the local material. Some things never change. Look for some high ground off that site clear of lots of surface rocks and see if you find smaller knapped stuff,,,

There is higher ground up a hill next to the gravel site that I have not checked yet. I might be able to pick up some nice pieces from there, maybe. Don't know until you try. You should check my other 2 posts, I have more pics of the finds I accumulated at the site. Most of the pieces I found were tools of some sort. I haven't found any broken pieces of arrowheads. these are paleo tools I believe..... I do know that early indians would use larger flakes as tools if they were sharp, if not they would chip the edges to make them sharp. I found this was the case for many of the large flakes that I have found; some even have an area that your thumb fits in perfectly.. I did find early leather tools, or drills or pecking tools of some sort. Very unlike the long slender drills that later indians made. I will do some more exploring as soon as I get back from this job I am on right now in East Texas. It might be a couple of weeks... Thanks for the advice...

I find or have found lots of these same rocks at a disc golf course in Manor,Tx. it's off of Blake Manor road,there's all kinds of rocks that look like what you posted.

Yep I used to live down around Brazos Tx played alot down in the Navasota bottoms and swamps. Could flash flood from a rain you never even saw in minutes. Why I am thinking maybe higher ground ? I am always amazed also at how the hand tools will fit right in your hand. Its like they made them comfortable and a place for every finger. I guess they were all tools to them but I enjoy the scrapers and knifes more than anything. Most people look for perfection. I think the tools have more of a story to tell when you hold them in your hand. Good luck looks like you have a nice area to hunt. Thanks for sharing.

This is very true, the tools when you hold them feel perfect and comfortable in your hand... That hand ax/crusher on my other post fits so perfect its almost as comfortable as gripping a golf club, hahaha. Well, the shapes speek for themselves as well. The other hand ax i have found is way more amazing, I just haven't posted it yet because I am on a job in Center Tx, and I wont be back for a couple of weeks, but I will post it when I get back. When i get back i am going back to the area and I am going to find higher ground, and i am sure i will find more. Thanks for the advice again... Later

Wow, read this, www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2009-03/what-d.... Oh, and the pic in the article in this link looks similar to my first picture at the top. I found a huge tooth (molar) that is way too big to be cow etc.. along with these finds. Thought it might shed some light. Thanks
