    why the serrations ?

    Hello to everyone, I found this point/drill in Ga, I think it's a drill and everyone that has seen it agree's.But why is it serrated, don't think i've seen another drill that is serrated, any thoughts would be appreciated.

    ITS A SHARPENED DOWN KNIFE,STEAK KNIFES HAVE THEM TOO,,TO CUT MEAT,,MIKE

    Just like Mike said, that is a Knife and not a Drill. The serrations were put on there to make the cutting easier. By the way, that is a Kirk Stemmed Point.

    Does this relic have a twist when looking it straight on? If so it's a knife, but if not it could be a projectile point. Early Fort Ancient arrowheads also were commonly serrated and they were clearly projectile points. Serrated projectiles were the ancients hollow points.
