Great find Larson...We got about an inch here in the Red River Valley too. One of fields I like to hunt isn't planted
yet, so hopefully the rain "exposed" some artifacts and they are waiting to be found. Your finds continue to amaze me.

I can't get a single sound out of any of the whistles I have found and I wish I could
I have read that the traders were amazed by the amount of different sounds the little Indian kids could make with these
they could imitate birds and all kinds of stuff

I was going to ask if you could get any sound out of those. Really cool whistles.

Now that is a very cool artifact. We find Bone Flutes here in my area, but nothing that looks like that. Ours are long and slender with 4 to 6 holes drilled into them. My buddy has one that he can play Mary Had A Little Lamb on. lol
Here 's a picture of one.

Wow Dorkfish, that is a nice flute, I have never seen one before
perhaps the natives had more musical talent than the natives around the Dakotas
how many flutes have you found?
I have about a dozen whistles, but no flutes

That is the only whole one I have, but I have numerous pieces of them.

Fantastic find. I have never heard of anybody ever finding a whistle in south Georgia. What part of the country are you from?
