strange finds 6-6-09

The journey
In situ my point,
Two for the day.One on the right(mine) has a very fine serrated edge hard to see in picture.
Big ole honkin rock with edge work. Maybe a digger
Insitu of the Magic Mystery rock.
Removed from its watery slumber.
Thought preform then saw the edge work. ??
Cool. When it dried it had a dark brown V appear on it.
see the edge work? The bottom is 1/2 uni-faced.
I looked at it later that night and the brown V was gone!! I re -wetted it and as it dried it came back for an hour or so and then disappeared again... Magic. It looks as if they actually knapped three strong wide flakes just off of the area of the V when visible. Probably a joke trade rock. Trade it and when they got home nothing was on it !!!
Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks guys. It was not a record haul by any means but a fun day. Our fields are planted here so the hunting is mostly by water ways now. That rock was diffrent the way it changed colors and had not seen anything like that.

Nice finds TN, that last pic with that multi-colored tool is sweet; gotta love it. Good to see different looking artifacts. I am on a job right now in Crystal City South Texas, and we are working along the Nueces river. I have recovered a few nice pieces in my spare time. One looks like an arrowhead that has been reworked into a scraper, I think, I will send those pics when I get back home so you can let me know what ya think. You seem to give me the best advice and pics, thanks..

Look forward to seeing it. My advice is always when in doubt bring it home. You cant go wrong if it turns out to be nothing, lol I have collected many nothings thru the years. The guys on here are way better at typology than me though but they are making me learn and I like it. You are in some good country stay safe.
