Crystal City, TX along the Nueces River, (6-13-09 through 6-19-09)
Good stuff around the river.. Lucky that I had time in between working my job to pick up a few. The ranches and farms that I was working on were superb for artifact hunting.. The only thang was the problem that it was really dry out. So I could not find it all, which means no rain; and work ofcourse.. Hot!!!!!!!!! 110!!! Good thing that I had time to look. Found a Catan point; the sub-triangular point that looks oval. And, a couple points that I could not figure out. One, the grey chert one that looks broke, is not broke, but maybe has been in the past, but has been reworked quite well around the hafting area. Found a true perfect example of a hammer stone with work evidence. Have to ask a question about the one piece that looks weird. It has multi-notches on it; about four around the circumfrance. The grey piece... Have found some good substitutes for antler for pressure flaking. Oh, and have found some end scrapers that look great... And my favorite finds, the abrassion sandstone pieces, four of them..... The Indians used them to fine up their pieces. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think about some pieces I have... Thanks...... All finds were within about 200 feet from the Nueces River. That's a rough estimate.

Abarnard,
Those are great. I really like that cool green color.
Great way to spend your spare time, and it costs nothing.

Thanks for the replies, it was a good palce to hunt. It was way toooo dry out, or else I might have spotted a few more. The hammer stone was my favorite b/c it was so well rounded; oh, and the Catan Point... No, I won't be able to get back to this area. The job is done, and the ranch hands won't allow me back after. I wish it was my land b/c I would go back..... Not bad for no rain though... I had some spare time on my hands...
