Nice finds. Are you sure that last piece isn't a Biscuit Discoidal?

i hadnt thought of that dorkfish.i guess i assumed it was probably used as hammerstone because of the use wear on the sides, but now that you mentioned it i think you could be correct.it does have fairly decent polish on the two faces, but very banged up on all the edges.i will post some better pics asap.thx.

lol.this is a new huntn spot, was the first time huntn it yesterday.the corn was about waist high in spots and over your head in other spots.i am not sure now on the hockey puck.dorkfish suggested a biscuit discoidal and i think he could be rite.yea my girlfriend buys wicker baskets and puts all of the flint chips she brings home in them.they are all over the house,it actually looks pretty cool with all the different varieties of ridge in these baskets, anyways thats kinda why i brought all those flakes home, she was happy.

Re: recent ohio finds
Are you digging a trash pit? Back when we could dig in Indiana I'd occasionally find clusters of flint at the bottom of fire pits, where it was left after heat treating... Slow digging, the flakes were sharp enough to slice through a glove if you tried to wiggle them out of the cooked clay with your hand, but neat enough that I wanted to get them out intact...

this is a very large hilltop site that covers several acres.pik has done a lot of digging with incredible success.I believe he has found artifacts laying on the surface not to mention all of his dig finds.this spot is located about 5 miles from the flint ridge quarries.we kind of think this was a stop off point where they camped temporarily and knapped out preforms for easier transportation.you can pretty much stick a shovel in the ground anywhere and come in contact with flint. The spot I was digging the other day looks like a spot that someone sat and knocked down flint. But it could be a trash pit,I was digging to a depth of about 1 foot,I was finding a lot of walnut and acorn nut shells at this depth so maybe it was a trash pit ?

Nice finds, you look like me when I leave a field, I always pick up all the flint, that way I don't have to look at it the next time I walk the same field. My downspout has a bunch of flint and grinding stones around it.

I would have been happy with just the pile of flakes, very nice of you to consider the girlfriend. I like the flakes in bleached turtle shells. Nice finds on the whole ones too.

Hancock County, there have been some really nice pieces found around where I live. I live near a creek. Metal detecting in town, when the creek bed was dry, I found a 1788 reale. My guess is that a trapper or an Indian lost it.
