Re: Tennessee hunt 7-10-09
Nice hunt. Love the pooch.
When hunting rivers you have to remember, Those artifacts have been washing in the river for thousands of years.
When the weather gets too hot to walk the banks and sandbars, get in the water and feel with your hands and feet. There are things there that you cannot see.
I once found a huge grinding stone about six feet deep in the water. I felt it with my feet.
I have found hundreds of points and blades digging in the mud about elbow deep. I pulled six very nice blades from the root system of a huge tree that had fallen in the river once.
Just and idea you might want to remember.
Good luck
Randy

Nice haul Tn, good variety of artifacts. That translucent piece is real nice. Yep, even a bad day hunting is a good day in my opinion.

We call that "the mud before the mud". And you are right in certain areas you can sift with your fingers up to your elbows. Old dead falls and stumps can be gold mines. A few today came by feel not sight. Thank you I thought we were the only ones that were crazy, lol

Looks like a nice haul. You wont forget that broken pot for awhile huh? Your four legged partner needs the water to go down a bit. I can tell he loves to get out and hunt with you. You take care and good luck on your next trip, I started out today but found out we had more of a rain than I thought, all the creeks and ditches were rolling so I had to postpone, cant wait to check them out tommorow.
