Hello all,
Well I've had a pretty good week going out after work for a couple of hours on two different days .
The first was Tuesday the 7th & when I got to the creek I decided to slow down & look in the running water ( I was thinking of the discussion on here about moss & Arrowheads on here) & I something caught my eye it was covered in algae but I could tell it had an unusual shape. I pulled it out (of about 2 ft of water) & was very pleased, it's broke but it's my first "water" find in a creek, it looks to me to be a Dickson or a Gary? Any thoughts?
The next, as I went to the gravel bar after finding that Arrowhead I went to get a rock out of my boot as I bent over I glanced to my right & saw a little bird side notch! It's got a corner off the base ( but once again that doesn't matter to me!)
Then I went back on 7-9 & I found some other flint but then came on this Knife (I believe it is any thoughts?) as soon as I saw it I knew right away it was worked then I got closer & saw it was broke Oh well .
If anybody has any ideas on the types I would appreciate any help!
Thanks 4 lookin'

Friedrich Nietzsche,
Hi Demoncatss, Funny you should ask gary or dickson because I've been trying to figure out if 4 points that belong to a friend are gary or dickson.
I think gary because of the shape, but with the straight bottom edge I think more dickson. But the overstreet book says that rarely garys have a straight base. they look a lot like yours, i'm leaning towards dickson,
DemonCat, Congrats on the water work. I've plucked some small artifacts from unlikely places, but am still yet to find a single artifact under or against the water. I thought I would give it another shot this past week so I peeled off my shoes and spent about an hour in a shallow creek near a known campsite. Low and behold, nothing! Needless to say, I'm always happy to see when someone else is successful.
Nice post,
Docmann
Det vi vet er så uendelig lite mot det som har hendt. Arkeologen er som den som går langs en strand og finner småtterier, skyllet i land fra et forsvunnet skib. Men selve skibet som gikk i dypet med menneskene får han aldri se.

Hey NG,
I'm just guessing at the Dickson because its what looks the most like my point (the shoulders or ears look like it?) from Overstreet at first I was thinking adena.
I am wondering is that fluting though in my first picture? It sure looks like it.
Do you think the points in your pic could be Dickson and Gary?
Thanks,

Friedrich Nietzsche,
I just don't know, still trying to learn. I found a website, and didn't save it, that said Adena is a type, that includes garys, dicksons and some others. My overstreet book doesn't say it like that so there may be a couple of different ways of looking at it? I don't know where mine were found, so location isn't a help. Still need to keep looking for more info. Ifr I can find that site again I'll post a link. It had good pictures.
