My family went out today with out me, and look what they found. 7-11-09

I am away on business for the next couple of weeks, so my wife took the kids out today.
I was very bummed and wished I had been out hunting with them, I got phone call updates all day
My wife found these heartbreakers.

I wonder what this would have been if it had not been broke at the base. it's a little hard to tell from the photo.





Almost at the end of the day, my 13 year old son Conner found his second arrowhead ever. he was very excited.

Very nice! Tell your son congrates. Regarding your question: It's actually cortext or the very outer portion on the rock the point was made from. I've got a few pieces that are like that, including an angostura. I see cortext on the base a lot as well. Thanks for the pics, Raymond

The first and second photo are the same point, just different sides. of course I haven't had it in my hands yet, but the second photo shows a fracture to me, so I am guessing it is. That and my wife said it is broken, so I can't argue with her, she is never wrong.

Again congratulations on your family finds. You asked if that was patina on one of the last points shown. It looks like a piece of the outside of the flint core that was just not knocked off yet. Good luck and hurry back.
